How to Raise Funds

There is an ocean of funds to apply for, and we have created
an overview which will continue to grow here. When you start
your business search for foundations that support start-ups.
You must have a clear business plan, vision and mission. A
detailed budget and a clear description of your team. What is
each person’s role in the company and what background do you
come from? Education, work experience, personal skills. Did
you ever start a company and fail? This is relevant too and
often viewed as a strength, learning from your mistakes. Lastly, a plan for how and where to use the money.

There are funds for you as a practising artist. For the
gallery to support various kinds of art or residencies / collaborations. Most galleries and museums will
apply per project. To do this you need a well-defined budget
and plan for your specific project / show / exhibition / performance.

The absolute most important thing to think about is to READ
the instructions from each fund. What is it for? What are they
asking you to send? In what format? Keep it short and sweet
and to the point, remember that most foundations will receive
thousands of applications, and they do not have time to read a
book for each application.
